Can't wait to see what every one shares for suggestions! For my paper, I was fortunate to be able to buy a rack from a local store that was closing. I store my Stampin Up stamps in a buffet I got from Pennys furniture outlet for $50! It holds my stamps in the two deep drawers and then I keep trimmers, gadgets and other gizmos in the two cabinets on either side.
ReplyDeleteI was fortunate to get kitchen cabinets from my neighbor who was remodeling. My husband installed them down an entire wall in my spare bedroom. That has helped immensely with organization. My theory, if the room is a mess - close the door! :)
ReplyDeleteThe only things I have organized are my ink pads and cardstock. I printed the colors for ink pads on the 1/2 by 1-3/4 address labels then punched them out with the word window punch and put them on the end of my ink pads, then numbered them, S-1 is the 1st color SU lists under Subtles (rose red), R-5 is Regals, 5th one down etc (riding hood red. So I know exactly where they go back into my ink pad holder.
ReplyDeleteCS has each color in a hanging folder, I put a manilla folder inside each hanging folder for scraps of that color. I look in my scraps folder before I ever cut a new sheet.
I also have a magnetic dry erase board on the side of the file cabinet my CS is in so that I can write down things I need to order as I use them so I don't forget.
Well fortunately, my dh is buying me a scrapbox with proceeds from his father's estate. So, I plan to be super organized with all my new little cubbies. Mostly, I keep all my like colors together, reds/pinks, oranges/yellows, I dont' make myself crazy trying to keep color families together because I would go nuts. So this works for me, I have them in paper savers. I have also been busy today with my external harddrive organizing all my pictures, I just figured out all I scrapped this year was my son baseball/allstar albums. Now onto the family album which I now have organized by month. Now on to printing.

When I find a great tutorial I want to keep I create a word document and copy then paste the information from their blog. I then copy and paste the link at the end of the tutorial so I can go back to it if I need too. I also have moved all of these to my external harddrive so if my computer crashes I don't have to recreate them all again. I organize my tutorials by type-ie cards, 3D items, etc. so when I am looking for something I can find it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win the candy!
ReplyDeleteI know this is a bit lame - organization is something I struggle with - but I do have one tip. I haven't been a SU demo for long, so i don't have a lot of SU cardstock (yet). But I do have a TON of non-SU cardstock...and I don't want them mixed up. So I keep my SU cardstock organized by "family" in translucent plastic 9 x 13 envelopes. It makes it easy to see what I have, what I need more of, etc. I just take the label from the front of the cardstock package and tape it to the front of the envelope.
For now, I have four envelopes (one for each family). As time goes on, I will add more for each color, etc. They file easily in a filing cabinet, too. They are less than $2 at my local Michaels and seem to last forever. :)
I have every color of 8.5x11 inch cardstock and ink pads since 2006 from Stampin Up! I found an old 8track cassette rack at a garage sale that is on a swivel and I keep the stamp pads in that. Frequently used reinkers in a tray on top.(just like the one SU sells but mine is wood and holds more!) I paid $3 for the cassette rack. I bought 2 file cabinets (3dr $29ea) at WalMart to hold the cardstock and went to Lowe's and got a board ($30) to make a desk top out of and I use the cabinets as the base. Total cost approx $90. I bought a 12x12 paper rack at Hobby Lobby using my 50% coupon a couple years ago. I am pseudo organized by my craft room is still such a mess!! I live in there so it is no wonder but....
ReplyDeleteI would love some blog candy so here is my O tip.
ReplyDeleteI scrapbooked long before I became a SU Demo so I have so much stuff that everyone who comes into my Queen Bee Hive, comments that it looks like a store.
My husband is handy with woodworking so he is going to build me custom cabinets because I am pretty short.
For now, I have a slat wall where I hang a lot of my embellishment. I have a 12x12 CS storage shelf I got from a scrapbook store. I store my 8 1/2 x 11 CS in a filing cabinet and sort they by color collections.
For my scrap CS, I store them by color in individual folders in a plastic file cube so I don't forget about them when I need a small scrap of paper. This alone has helped me to use up as much of my CS before using another whole CS.
Other than that, I keep the items I use most at arm's length so that when I am crating, I do not get distracted by going to another part of my room and finding something that I planned on working on in the future. LOL
Well, I hope this helps someone out there.
My email is queenbeascraps@mvdsl.com
I hope I win! If I do, I will not be able to reply until after the 10th of Jan.
Mu hubby built me 2 paper organizers so I have a slot for each color and the in colors. They are deep enough that I keep all of my scraps in a clear file protector so that beofre I make anything I can check and see if my scraps are big enough.I bought an Ikea cd holder which is tall and you can adjust the shelves. I used it for my ink pads but just bought the SU ink pad holder and nw can use this shelf for the clear stamps. It is great and because it is adjustable you can hold bits and pices on the other shelves.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on reaching you goal
Hey girl.. thanks for all the nice comments on my blog and the SU site. I am a new follower now. I am glad you made you 1000 views.. it is a great mile stone. BTW I am full of great ideas.. lol Its... if I do them or not lol. One of my favorites that I do and love, I use a file cabnet for my SU paper.. each color in its own file and I also put the scarps back into that file so I can always have them right at hand. I boutght the file Cabnet that is EXTRA deep they cost more but I have so much paper I need both drawers. the file tabs are the color of paper with the name. I do have pictures of all this on my blog somewhere.. (I love to share) lol Just look under WOYWW.. you will love it.. Thanks for the chance to win some blog candy!!

Congrats and here's to MANY MORE HITS! One method that keeps me sane to remember what colors are in my DSP is that I tape a sticky note on it so that I dont have to look thru the IBC to see what colors especially if they have been retired...Also the cardboard that comes in the DSP is GREAT to make a stage so you can photograph your artwork with no distracting background...and its a clean look

Congratulations on reaching your goal!
ReplyDeleteTo keep organized, I use a lot of plastic storage boxes so I can see into them. When I get around to it, I label the end, but until I get to it, being able to see into the box is really helpful (obviously I'm not as organized as I'd like). I split my items into seperate boxes for retired and current. I also use paper boxes (they fit perfectly on my bookcase) to store excess items or items I don't use often. Since they aren't clear, I always label those right away.
I would love some blog candy (after all who wouldn't lol).
ReplyDeleteI'm very bad at organizing my SU stuff BUT I do like my ink pad holder now. I found an old cassette tape wall mount. It's wood and I bought it for a quarter. It's perfect to slide all of my ink in and I store them flat, wiht the labels facing out so I know exactly what I have at a quick glance. Thank you to everyone who shared.

I have all my scraps of cardstock in coupon holders from the dollar store. One for each color family, in colors, and others - confetti white/ivory...etc. When I start a project, sometimes I am not sure what size a mat for a stamped image I need, but if I have some scraps all the same size or can be trimmed to that size, I get to use all my scraps that way...my downline shared this idea a couple yrs ago...it was the best. another tip, I use the old style utensil holder from Pampered Chef (usually found at yard sales cheap) I store scissors, color pencils, brushes, etc. in those. and one more...In the jewelry craft section at Walmart are these clear hard plastic boxes with 12 sections. I have 5 for the color families and the in colors, each box has a sponge wedge and a dauber for each color, I labelled the side with the color family name and using a label maker, each section on top has the color name. and now with 10 colors in a family, I have 2 extra spaces in each box for extra sponges (left over from retired colors) that are close to the colors in that family...CONGRATS on your 1000 hits.
